Arrival and Training

03 December 2017 | Tanzania, Dar es Salaam
The airport feels small for the million town we just arrived in. Smaller than Eindhoven.
With our residence permits, we can skip the long line for requesting a visa and are directed to the people who will check our passports. Very quickly we are aloud to enter Tanzania.
While waiting for our suitcases, we spot another wazungu (white person) and that is indeed Maria a Dutch volunteer for VSO from Randstad.
Once we go outside with our enormous heap of suitcases, bags and helmets, we are welcomed by a driver of VSO. We have to wait for a while, because there seems to arrive another volunteer or we don't fit in one car. Still unclear what it was. Eirini gets some cash from the ATM, 10.000-shilling sounds like a lot. (turns out to be 4 euro's)
When we finally are going, we are happy we can sit in an air co-ed car for a while, still adjusting to the heat. The driver is friendly and already tells some things about Dar, we look amazed at the traffic and the desolate parts of town.
We are being brought to Kay's Lodge, which turns out to be our home for the next 10 days
