22 December 2017 | Tanzania, Stone Town
Although Eirini is more in favour of going out, Epco would like to try the breakfast provided by the hotel. The breakfast is simple, but the location on the roof of the hotel is really nice. We now feel enough confidence to pay for the hotel, which enables them to buy breakfast for tomorrow.
After breakfast, Epco did see some more touristic place we can visit in town. We walk through the nice little streets again and found ourselves shopping again. Epco buys a nice linen shirt and Eirini almost buys two beautiful dresses. She takes some time to think about it. Our destination that day is the Anglican Church of Stone Town, which is next to an old slave market, now turned into a museum. After walking around the premises, we find the entrance and pay the ticket fee. The exhibition about the history of slave trading is impressive and surprisingly detailed and non-judging. The church is calming, we both feel how tired we are from all the walking and impressions. We must laugh about the Christmas tree with coloured lights in the church.
It is time for lunch! Epco navigates to a nice place called Green Garden, where we are almost the only guests and they serve nice international food. The food is good, but Eirini’s ingestions find it hard to process the combination of walking strange bacteria, strange food and a bit of stress, she need to lie down a bit. We decide it is enough for today and relax some more at the Green Garden before Eirini gathers her last energy to go back to the hotel. Once arrived there, she collapses and quickly lays down on the bed.
When Eirini is slowly getting better, Epco gets into town to exchange his patchwork laptop bag and do some mysterious shopping. In the evening, we both feel good enough for a simple dinner at the sea.
